Ok, so I am trying this blogging thing yet again. This time you can blame Wil Wheaton. I recently(re)discovered him. I was watching the Guild season 3, and when Wil (I call him Wil because he and I are, like, hecka tight (meaning I read one of his 70-odd page leaflets and started following him on Twitter this morning)) came on, I thought he looked familiar and almost looked him up to see who he was. Him not being an attractive female however, I lost interest and looked up Michele Boyd instead.
A while later I was reading the blog A dribble of Ink and they reviewed Wil's book 'The happiest days of our lives'. In that they mentioned that he was in season three of the Guild. In one those moments from almost every tv show ever my mouth opened and I said, 'ohhhh' as I realized who the killer was...err...who that guy was. They also mentioned his blog. I looked that up, and fuck, it is Brad Pitt all over again. Damn it.
You see, when Brad Pitt first started acting he sucked. That's not strong enough...he SUUUUCKED! Horrible. Awful. Ruined, along with Tom Cruise, Interview with a Vampire for me. Then se7en and 12 Monkeys came out and I liked hm in both of those. Then he had some more stinkers and my near-crisis ended. Then came Snatch and Fight Club, and I loved him in both those movies. It was like my whole world was turned upside down. If Brad Pitt doesn't SUUUUCK, then what can I count on, really? Since then I have liked him in everything I have seen him in. He has become one of my favorite actors, and man does that still feel weird to say.
So I always disliked Wesley Crusher, and in my youth I was just shallow enough to hold that against the actor. Since then I have grown to be able to separate actor from character in all but the most obnoxious cases. But since this vague dislike for the dude that played Lil' Crusher went way back, it was still there. Now here I am again. I like him in the Guild. I like his blog. I like his writing. I have discovered that we have a lot in common: grew up playing rpgs, two stepsons, etc. I ordered one of his short books off of Lulu (Sunken Treasures) and really liked it. I just ordered Dancing Barefoot from Amazon, which I am sure will be a very macho book about manly things. I check back and let you know once I have read it.
Reading his blog got me fired up to try this again, so here I go.
